Second entry for the Bloggers Quilt Festival
Baby Quilt
In January we will welcome Baby Girl Graves to the family, Charlotte to be exact.
For her first baby shower I needed to start a quilt before we knew she was baby girl.
What better choicefor any baby, girl or boy, then my beloved Dr. Seuss?!
The fabrics are from Robert Kaufman's Seuss line and the pattern is Shake It Up! by Mary Hubka of Pressed For Time Quiltworks. It finishes up a baby friendly 45 X 54 inches.
Backing is also Robert Kaufman, in flannel for a cuddly softness.
Quilted by me with white Aurofil in a simple 2.5 inch cross hatch design.
With such lively fabric and quilt pattern a simple stitch pattern was enough.
A Seuss quote for the label.
Charlotte's arrival is very special since she will be the first grandchild from my husband's son
Ryan and his wife Jessica. First grandchild for her mom and dad.
We've practiced well with my four, see family photos on the blog page, and are excited for the addition. Jess and Ryan are going to be amazing parents!

This quilt has the distinction of the first time I've given a quit before the baby is born and one of the few that I've quilted myself. My oldest granddaughter, Jenna, was two before she received her first quilt because the year she was born is the year I realized my ambition start to learn to become a quilter like my Grandma was.
