Welcome Gabriel!
Naia's baby brother, Gabriel Alden Bauer Bennett, arrived yesterday (Oct. 20) at 4:26pm, a mere two hours after Jason arrived at the hospital directly from the airport. He weighed in at 6 lb 10 oz and 19.5 inches long; the same length and only one ounce heavier than Naia.
His birth was a perfect example of the connection between mind and body. My water broke at 7:45pm, the exact time I hung up the phone with Jason as he boarded his plane in Sofia. I checked into the hospital at 12:30am and spent the next 11 hours with mild contractions about 15 minutes apart. As soon as we saw Jason's flight was on final approach into Portland labor kicked in and Jason arrived at the hospital when my contractions were 5 minutes apart. Gabriel was born abouot two hours later and Jason cut the cord.

It's A Boy!
Well, yes, I know that we knew that, but still. Gabriel arrived Monday afternoon about 4:30 PM. 19 1/2 inches long, 6 lbs. 10 oz. All the correct number of fingers and toes, brown hair at the moment. Daddy arrived from Bulgaria about two hours before and so all was well. Although one has to think that must have been a nerve wracking flight for Jason, and also a nerve wracking wait for Kel.

Countdown!
News of Kel and Jason's newest arrival was posted on Naia's blog. Anytime now, and Jason's travel plans have been advanced for him to leave Bulgaria Monday as opposed to next Friday. Bit of a nerve wracking turn of events, but such is the reality of babies and how they will choose their own timing. Will keep you posted on Gabriel's entrance into the world and, at that point, learning his middle name.

Happy Anniversary

This past Thursday October 9th marked our fourth wedding anniversary. Oddly enough that evening was marked by dinner of Mike's cheesy quesadillas and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! In the midst of a hectic week we took the time to stop and reflect on the amazing path we've come down since the day we were married.
Happily we celebrated Saturday with an overnight getaway for the two of us to Huntington Beach. A fabulous dinner at the restaurant at the Hyatt where we stayed and a leisurely drive home Sunday that included a stop up in Sunset Beach and a visit to the beach house. Where we plan to spend a vacation in 2010, again, finally.
