Mini Blogging!

Blogging is often all about the pictures. And so my new mindset will be to at least throw pictures at our blog! I'll be a bit short on narrative I'm afraid.

Last Sunday we went to San Diego to spend some pre holiday time with family. First we stopped to pick up Kiera's friend Jessica and spent a couple hours on the outdoor ice rink at Horton Plaza in downtown San Diego. Here are photos showing Kiera's ever improving skating skills. She continues to work on her first jumps and spins are improving too.

Landing nicely.

Catching some air.

Backward crossovers.

Those Grandkids Again

While I haven't had time to do much of anything creative with our blog I can still rather skillfully steal from the blogs of my Grandkids. The latest pics of Gabriel and Naia.

Stay tuned for cute pictures of Jenna and Allyson from their recent trip to Disneyland as soon as Shannon updates her blog and I can steal those too.

The Need For Speed

As a belated celebration of Ryan's October birthday we headed over to K1 Speed Indoor Kart Racing this past Sunday. As an added bonus our two for one coupon afforded Ryan, Kiera and Mike twice the racing fun.

Drivers waiting for their names to be announced.
Gentlemen, and lady, start your engines!
Mike in the turn.
Kiera flashing by.
The board, showing Ryan's first place finish. Winners podium.
Kiera's new ambition is to be a race car driver. The facility offers electric go karts that are fast and a choice of two different tracks. After each race you receive a printout of your lap times and Kiera in particular shaved quite a bit from her first race to second.

Trip to Eugene

Many thanks to Marian and Peter for being such generous hosts. They will have a bit of peace and quiet now that everyone has made the trip to meet Gabriel. The visitors began with Auntie Kim and cousin Cassidy, followed by Papa Rick, Aunt Shannon and cousins Jenna and Allyson. Wrapped up with Nana Gayle.

Naia, Gabriel and myself in our group shot.

Naia testing Gabriel's quilt.

Watching Dora with her new big sister quilt.

Jason and Naia working on her backfloat at the local indoor pool.

The weather in Eugene was crisp, the rain occassional, but Jason, Naia and I made it to the park Sunday and again on Monday while Kel and Gabriel went for a quick appointment at the lab. We enjoyed some time at the indoor pool and plenty of relaxing. Sunday by the fire while I finished Naia's quilt was a little bit of bliss for me.

And please forgive me my odd sense of humor. But I couldn't help myself. During the children's swim time an Aqua Jog class was taking place in the other half of the pool. Led by a less than enthusiatistic college age guy who gamely continued to pantomime through the moves of the class routine while a number of older women largely ignored him, chatted in groups, and casually, at best, followed his direction. Although I have to admit during the stretches at the end of the class they rallied. I could not resist a few shots. Kudos for their young instructor for staying the course.

Not sure what the move with the stool involved.

We're jogging, we're jogging...

My personal favorite, this involved alternating sides for this move. An running thru my head most of the time was a line from a list of "You Know You're In Oregon When" that my sister sent me years ago; Swimming is an indoor sport.
That said, wouldn't I love a place like this near me!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

We spent a festive Halloween at our Day Care Family's house. Debbie and Jim do the house up nicely with a graveyard and all the good stuff like fog machines and scary costumes. And lots and lots of candy.

Kiera and Karly before dark.

Mike and I in costume, the court jester and the circus strong man.

Jim in costume handing out candy. We questioned whether or not the living dead would call to their victims with a hearty "C'mere and give me a snuggle!" The best part was while someone else handed out candy Jim would sit still and the trick or treaters thought we was a stuffed dummy,,,until he reached out and grabbed them!

Kiera as the dead witch in the graveyard. This proved scary enough to keep visitors from coming up the walk near her.

Around the side of the house was the "Alien Spaceship" experience, more graveyard and lots of blood curdling screams courtesy of Kiera, Amy and Karly, to scare those who dared to come.

More Cute Grandkids

Ok, I promise I'll do something original on our blog soon! But come on, how cute is this picture of Allyson?
